Bridesmaid Dress for My Wedding

Having been a bride myself, one of the most difficult and time-consuming(apart from choosing my own gowns) is to find the right Bridesmaid dress.

How on earth is a dress able to fit all sizes?

For me, tailor-made dresses are definitely out of the picture because,

1) They are expensive.

2) They will most probably be worn once.

And also, personally for me I was looking for “That particular Color Dress” rather than “That Specific Design”. For my wedding, my color theme was Gold and Red(roses). I wanted my bridesmaids to wear a Gold dress.

It was almost impossible to find a decent gold dress without looking too 歌台ish.

It took me quite some time to finally find the GOLD TOGA DRESS and at a reasonable price!

I had 8 bridesmaids and their sizes ranges between UK 6 to UK 12. And this dress fits them all!

I really think they look great in the dresses and it was exactly what I wanted for my Bridesmaids.

I also spent quite some time trying to DIY  wrist corsages for my bridesmaids. I’m glad I went for the BIG AND BOLD flowers. It not only matched the day dress very well, it matched perfectly with their long black dress too. Look damn nice on pictures!

Of course, the Bridesmaid dress that I’ve bought for my Bridesmaids may not be that perfect.

1) The length is quite short for the taller ladies.

2) The material is not very comfortable.

3) Limited colors available.

4) They probably will not have any occasion to wear it again.

So, after much discussion with my supplier, I’ve decided to manufacture a similar dress with better material and lining in more pretty colors!

And I’m sure your bridesmaids / jiemei  will definitely have a chance to wear this dress again on other occasions.

If you are looking for the ideal Jiemei Dress, pop by to BridgettBelle now. Customised Wrist Corsages are also available! ( More pictures up on FB )

P.S: Do not ask ALL your bridesmaids to shop for Bridesmaid Dresses with you, ask at most 2-3 of them along, especially the smallest size & the biggest size.

Wedding at GoodWood Park Hotel

Those days when Hubb and I were deciding where to hold our traditional wedding dinner, we visited Goodwood Park too.

Coincidentally, we were told by the sales executive that they had wedding lunch and wedding dinner on that particular day.

Wedding lunch was held in the Tudor Ballroom. (smaller)

My first impression of Tudor ballroom:

1) Limited space at reception area.
Not much space for you to mingle and have your drinks before event commence.

2) Ballroom is small, cannot accomodate a lot of tables.

20120215-144716.jpg

20120215-144827.jpg

3) Ceiling quite low, pillar-less

3) White, quite fairy-tale ish.

Based on the ballroom setting, I think its suitable for ROM lunch, provided that your guest list isn’t too long.

Tudor Ballroom was definitely out of our list due to the space constraints.

Hubb and I went to Far east did a little shopping and headed back to the hotel to see the setting of the Wedding dinner at Windsor Ballroom.

My first impression of Windsor Ballroom; their main ballroom.

1) Reception area was quite a turn-off. Too Cramped.

2) Ballroom is at a good size.
BUT in a weird shape. The moment I stepped in, I remembered it was in a Hexagon shape with mirrors by the side.

3) Ceiling was average not too low not too high.

4) Lightings not fantastic.

The above were some of my first few impressions of Goodwood Park.

About a year later, I visited Goodwood Park again. This time round as a wedding guest!

I mean the ballroom didnt manage to win me over but maybe this time round the food will make up for it ?
As I heard from the bride that the Min Jiang Restaurant in GoodWood is very reputable.

But prior to this, I’ve heard people complaining about the lousy dishes and services so I’m just going there with not much expectations.

First dish; standard cold dish, the only dish I like.
Cant really remember the exact things they have but I remembered it was quite delicious.

Second dish; Shark’s Fin soup.
I dunno whether they didn’t wash the fins properly or added some other ingredients, there’s this weird taste in the soup.

The rest of the dishes were just normal not really fantastic, the other dish that left a deep impression was the Vegetables with sea cucumber.

I’m a huge fan of sea cucumber and Hubb dislikes them so I always have his share. That night, I had a bite of sea cucumber and I could’nt swallow it, it was really awful.
Major turn-off.

Sad to say, the food at Min Jiang is not my cup of tea.
I will only rate it a 3.5/10

Furthermore, I haven’t really see any bridal suite before apart from mine. The bridal suite at Goodwood is pretty small about 1/3 of Intercontinental.

Personally for me, I will never choose Goodwood Park for wedding banquet unless you are looking for a place to hold your solemnization and a wedding lunch.

You can consider having the Solemnization at the pool side, which has quite a gd view and sound system. Lunch can be held in the Tudor Ballroom.

The must-eats in Bangkok!

Brought Jing to try the Rio Grill Brazilian restaurant at our hotel. It’s similar to Carnivore at VivoCity. But at a quarter of the price! We paid about SGD 20+ per person for the dinner buffet, it’s damn awesome especially the ostrich meat!

My favourite christmas present from ah gong; mini fondue set. We melt this chocolate we bought from Carrefour and it taste exactly like the Haagen Dazs fondue.

CIAO!

The enemies of Photo shoot; Wind AND Rain.

I just had the most challenging BB photo shoot last week.

The initial plan is to head to somewhere with more greenery, but it started drizzling before the photo shoot could even get started. So we had to head to Venue B which was a little more restricting due to some security measures.
Luckily this time round, we have Shinrisen in-charged of the picture-taking and he brought this awesome flash that is a major saviour.

Here are the fruits of our labor:

Hannah
Here’s a must-get for this collection. The dress with the cheongsam feel but without the high collars. You will still be able to wear it even after the festive season, pair it with a blazer and it’s definitely good enough for work.

Hazell
This is my favourite picture, the gloomy clouds played an important role. This dress fits a UK 6 – 8 perfectly.

Halley
For those of you who have been following me on Instagram will know this dress.
Love the cut and the back details.
Shoutout: this material is similar to the popular Giovana we launched last collection!

Heather
We were sold when we first touched this dress. Its so much smoother and softer than chiffon. Pair it with gold accessories and sandals to pull off the Grecian look.

A big thank you to my awesome model and Shinrisen for making this possible despite the irritating weather.

Preview is up on BB facebook. Click here.

Dec: Spent our 5th “birthday” at Batam

2012 will definitely be a much better year!

Our 5th Birthday at Tempat Senang Resort

08 Dec 2011
This year we decided to have a short getaway to somewhere we have never been; BATAM!
I wanted to visit this resort for the longest time after reading the online reviews 2 years back, it’s known as Batam’s best kept secret;
Tempat Senang Resort Spa & Restaurant.

It is a Balinese boutique resort which only has 8 different suites;
Indian suite, Japanese Suite, Bali Suite, Indonesian suite, Thai Suite, Sultan Suite, Tree house and a couple more bigger rooms for bigger groups.

Guess which room we took?

The Sultan room!

I chose this room because it comes with a Jacuzzi tub.

The view outside our room.

The package we took comes with a 3 hours spa treatment.

For me I chose the :
Honey Oats Facial, Cinnamon Scrub and Balinese Massage

For hubb he chose the:
Clay Mask Facial, Coffee Scrub and Balinese Massage

Feeling refreshed, energised and ultra hungry after the 3 hours treatment
We went to explore the resort saw a few of the other suites and I’m glad I chose the Sultan room!

Was stuck between the Tree House or Sultan room, saw the Tree house and it has this antique-ish wood smell that I hate. phew~

But if you love Fish spa, you can try their Thai room, you can let the fishes nibble your dead skin for as long as you want!

Had a few rounds of pool while waiting for dinner to be served.

The unbeatable Hubb.

Finally dinner is ready!
Their signature dish; BBQ Beer Can Chicken

Back to our room.

Requested breakfast to be served in our room the next morning.

His favourite Mee Goreng.

We checked out at 11am(Batam’s time which is an hour before Singapore).
The resort arranged a taxi to send us to Batam Center (SGD$10)
Initially we planned to shop around Batam Center while waiting for our 4.30pm ferry.
Decided to visit Nagoya Hills instead since we still got plenty of hours to spare.
Was told by the driver it will be additional SGD$10.

The much-missed A&W which is so much better than Bangkok.

Nothing much for me to buy in Nagoya, I only bought a few tubs of scrub, Hubb bought a bag full of Adidas apparels, apparently Adidas is so much cheaper over there.

When we finished shopping at Nagoya, the driver came to pick us up and shamelessly ask for SGD$41 when he drop us at Batam Center from Nagoya Hills.

He said he waited for us for 3 hours and each hour he waited for is SGD$7.
Guessed he tried his luck on the wrong person, in the end, hubb paid him $20. :) )

Overall, it was an awesome getaway! “Happy Birthday” to the both of us!
