Honeymoon in Paris

After conquering London on our own for the first 4 days, we proceeded to Trafalgar Square the next day to meet the rest of our tour mates and our Europe tour officially begins!

Hubby took up the 8D7N Trafalgar tour package and our next stop; Paris.

We took the Ferry from London( Dover Eastern Docks) and reached France’s Calais Maritime Ferry Terminal in about 1.5hrs. Click here for other modes of transport from London to Paris.

The scenic white cliff of Dover.

We arrived in Paris on sunday late noon, most of the shops were already closed. Do take note that most Parisians do not work on sundays, even for retail workers.

The main icon of Paris; Eiffel Tower (night).

The best 2 places to take pictures of the Eiffel Tower are:
1) At the Trocadero (across the river “behind” the tower)
2) Champs de Mars park in front of the tower

Every night, the Eiffel tower will sparkle on the hours for 10 minutes, starting from 10pm onwards.

Eiffel tower (day). Simply magnificent.

After Eiffel tower, we went shopping instead of joining the rest for the optional tour to Louvre museum. Hubb and I went to the main shopping area; Champs Elysees, Galeries Lafayette and an outlet shopping La Vallée Village.

Before we leave downtown for the outlet shopping, Hubb brought me to this shop.
The Original Chanel Boutique – 31 Rue Cambon.

I’m really fortunate I met a really friendly and helpful Japanese sales person who served me that day. It really made my first purchase from Chanel a memorable and unforgettable one!

Taking the Paris Metro.

The Paris RER train.

For those of you interested in the outlet shopping; La Vallée Village, alight at Val d’Europe stop, and walk through the Val d’Europe Mall to get to the Outlet.

P.S: Thank you Hubb for the gift; it’s the most expensive gift I ever received! You made my stay in Paris very special very memorable. :)

Next stop: SWITZERLAND!

My recent addiction.

I have been addicted to Hot Chocolate lately! I tried quite a few in Singapore and most of them are either too milky or watery. The best hot chocolate I had so far are the ones from Hollys in Seoul. The Real Belgian Hot Chocolate from Hollys and korea strawberries are my daily must-haves back in those “Seoul Searching” days.

Happy me with the best hot chocolate!

20120508-000612.jpg

I thought I had to give up the quest of finding the best hot chocolate in Singapore till I found this..

20120508-000913.jpg

Max Brenner Melting Marshmallow Hot Chocolate!!!
It’s almost similar to the Hollys hot chocolate; rich and smooth but its slightly thicker!
The melted marshmallows are very soft and gooey, goes really well with the hot chocolate!

If you are not a big fan of hot beverages, can try their popular Pure Chocolate Truffle Granita Drink.

It’s really awesome, once you try this you will not fancy those normal chocolate milkshake. The portion is a tad too big, share this with somebody else!

The Makan buddies!

Finally found a place which serve good chocolate drinks!
I’m gonna try their desserts on my next visit; Chocolate Souffle and Waffles here I come!

Honeymoon in London

Our honeymoon 1st stop : London

14 hours of travelling; this is the furthest I’ve travelled.

Thank goodness we took Emirates instead of SQ, though there’s only a slight difference in price. The transit was very much needed cos I need to take a breather and stretch my long legs!

Our 1st day we did nothing much because I was having a slight fever. We walked around the hotel vicinity and waited for my sister to join us from Loughborough. We had dinner nearby and went to bed at 7pm in the evening.

2nd day : Time to enter the “Battlefield” Oxford street!

We stay very near to Hyde Park so we explored the park a little before walking to Oxford Street.

Our first stop : PRIMARK! Everyone in there seems to be deprived of shopping for years. Some even came with a trolley. When they pay, their baskets were filled to the brim kind. We left with 6 big bags too. Luckily hubb was around to carry the haversack and our shopping loots. :P

We headed back to the hotel in the evening to drop our loots and went straight to Harrods.

We explored the whole of Hyde Park from 天黑to天暗, it was really huge.

Finally reached Harrods!

Our 3rd day,was more on sightseeing.

The Camden Market. Nothing much there, basically things that you can find in BKK only at a higher price.

Covent Garden. You can watch those shows like Legally Blonde, Wicked etc there.

The Big Ben.

London Eye; from another perspective.

Doing what he does best!.

Last stop of the day; The Chelsea Club!

We took The tube / train to  Fulham Broadway station and walk!

Though they do not have any soccer match that day and by the time we reached there, the club had already closed. But the security was kind enough to let us explore the club.

The excited hubby.

Our last day in London!

The London breakfast.

Went to Buckingham Palace and manage to catch a small glimpse of the Change of Guards Ceremony.

Arsenal Club next!

And off to Burberry Factory Outet!

The apparels are pretty cheap, can get those burberry polo T-shirts at abt S$100. Don’t even consider the bags, totally off season! Below pic shows the exact address of the factory outlet.

Our London loots!

In general, the people in London are really friendly, however, best to depend on yourself and the map for directions. We asked a few people the hotel location, where to do tax refund etc, the locals can’t seem to help much.

Overall, I love shopping in London and if there’s a chance we will be back to watch the  soccer matches and broadway shows!

Next stop : PARIS!

Wild Honey; no place like home.

Finally visited Wild Honey with my girlfriends!
Wanted to try this last year but the queue at Mandarin Gallery is forever-long and we have to place our order before we are seated. #dunlike

We went to the one at Scott’s Square.
We had to wait for abt 10-15 minutes before we were seated and the waiting time for food was pretty long.
While waiting for the food to be served, I unwrapped the big present my ladies gave me.

The perfect gift for my trip next week!

Here’s what we ordered:

My Aussie “breakfast”

Mag’s Scandinavian “breakfast”

Happy US with Happy FOOD!
20120324-003752.jpg

We had some drinks after the very filling brunch. My hot chocolate was a tad too sweet. Mag had this honey+cinnamon+vanilla drink which was quite yucky.

I saw a lot of people ordered their signature drink; Queen Bee. I’m gonna try that on my next visit!

My verdict:

Food:
7.5/10
“A pictures speaks a thousand words.” Need I say more? I will love to try their other “breakfasts” as well!

Price:
5.5/10
Quite pricey, we paid about $30+ each for a maincourse and a drink.

Service:
7.5/10
Very friendly and helpful staffs.

Bridesmaids Dress and Wrist Corsages

Having been a bride myself, one of the most difficult and time-consuming(apart from choosing my own gowns) is to find the right Bridesmaid dress.

How on earth is a dress able to fit all sizes?

For me, tailor-made dresses are definitely out of the picture because,

1) They are expensive.

2) They will most probably be worn once.

And also, personally for me I was looking for “That particular Color Dress” rather than “That Specific Design”. For my wedding, my color theme was Gold and Red(roses). I wanted my bridesmaids to wear a Gold dress.

It was almost impossible to find a decent gold dress without looking too 歌台ish.

It took me quite some time to finally find the GOLD TOGA DRESS and at a reasonable price!

I had 8 bridesmaids and their sizes ranges between UK 6 to UK 12. And this dress fits them all!

I really think they look great in the dresses and it was exactly what I wanted for my Bridesmaids.

I also spent quite some time trying to DIY  wrist corsages for my bridesmaids. I’m glad I went for the BIG AND BOLD flowers. It not only matched the day dress very well, it matched perfectly with their long black dress too. Look damn nice on pictures!

Of course, the Bridesmaid dress that I’ve bought for my Bridesmaids may not be that perfect.

1) The length is quite short for the taller ladies.

2) The material is not very comfortable.

3) Limited colors available.

4) They probably will not have any occasion to wear it again.

So, after much discussion with my supplier, I’ve decided to manufacture a similar dress with better material and lining in more pretty colors!

And I’m sure your bridesmaids / jiemei  will definitely have a chance to wear this dress again on other occasions.

If you are looking for the ideal Jiemei Dress, pop by to BridgettBelle now. Customised Wrist Corsages are also available! ( More pictures up on FB )

P.S: Do not ask ALL your bridesmaids to shop for Bridesmaid Dresses with you, ask at most 2-3 of them along, especially the smallest size & the biggest size.
